Hi, Can anyone help me? The three projects, SETI,LHC and Einstein worked fine until about 4/5 ago. I understand from the SETI website they have gone offline to, "catch up", or something and as thus I realise why the SETI WUs wont download. However I can't seam to get any WUs from LHC or Einstein. I have tried to update, I have also ensured that the tabs are correct to allow for new units, but the messages state that the prog is not even requesting any despite the fact that I have NONE for any project left to process or upload! I have copied the most recent msgs as below- can anyone advise me why I can't have some WUs? Thanx.

Wont request anymore-is there an option to do this?

you could try to reset LHC and/or einstein. maybe its requesting work again then.
take care to have no WU left to report or upload before resetting, they will be lost.
hope this helps, pe.

I would like to add my name

I would like to add my name to the list. There are several messages regarding this. My message window shows the response to an update request as

8/31/2005 11:00:53 AM|Einstein@Home|Sending scheduler request to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi
8/31/2005 11:00:53 AM|Einstein@Home|Requesting 0 seconds of work, returning 0 results
8/31/2005 11:00:54 AM|Einstein@Home|Scheduler request to http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/EinsteinAtHome_cgi/cgi succeeded
8/31/2005 11:01:29 AM||request_reschedule_cpus: project op

I have 83 credits pending from Aug 29 and 83 credits pending from Aug 30.

Why will it not down load any more work?

There seems to be a problem with name resolution, which
is probably a problem on your end. You can check via
"nslookup setiathome.berkeley.edu" in command line. Is an IP address returned?
You might check "nslookup www.google.com" for starters.

@pe

Resetting a project is the last resort. Please do not recomment
it. You will trash every WU in progress!

Seti is up, but doing things very slowly, I've got 1 w/u and 1 trying to upload from Seti.

I've just starting having

I've just starting having similar problems... for some reason it keeps "requesting 0 seconds of work" despite the fact it doesn't have any to work on.

(I also am running 3 projects - SETI, Climate Prediction and Einstein - each with equal resource share allocated)
SETI is having known technical problems, CP seems to be unable to upload.

Message 15980 in response to message 15979

Suddenly about 2 hours ago I was hit with downloads from all 4 of my projects!!!!
Perhaps the Debts have sorted themselves out? HOWEVER what I did notice at the time of success (may have absolutely nothing to do...) was on my Manager I changed "allow new work" to read "No New Work" on 2 projects (cant remember which..) which is, visually, the opposite to what I wanted ie. it now reads "no new work" which means it is allowing new work. Anyway 3-4 days later.
Dont give up
Cheers

Interesting. I can confirm

Interesting. I can confirm that clicking the "No new work" button for E@H did indeed result in the following message in the log:

01/09/2005 10:08:51||Allowing work fetch again.

However, when I attempted to update the project, it still requested 0s of new work :(

Further toggling of the button (for this or any other project) just results in this message though:
01/09/2005 10:12:02||request_reschedule_cpus: project op

Weird.

John – Fully understandable, several weeks I was confused by the “No New Work” button on the BOINC Client. So, to insure everyone within this tread is aware of this concern, “No New Work” should be displayed on your client, under the “Projects” tab, assuming that you Do Want Work!

If for some reason you do not want to receive additional new work units, then push this button and it will display, "Allow New Work", meaning you Do Not Want New Work!

It does seem somewhat confusing, but perhaps in version 5 of the BOINC client this will be sorted out.
