Lately I'm getting about a dozen units at a time, all of them 2hrs 34mins. Is there a way to stop the upload process happening automatically so I can leave my PC unattended for more than the 'task time'?? I'm on dial up, by the way. Also is anyone else getting all these little tasks?

Thanks!

Uploading WU's

Under Activity, turn off Suspend Network Activity, until you need it.

I'm getting a lot the same running 1hr 37mins also. Problem is that BOINC is supposed to switch between Einstein and SETI every 60 minutes, but it has stopped processing ANY SETI packets. Anyone else have this problem?

A couple of things to keep in

A couple of things to keep in mind here:

1.) The task switch interval does not mean BOINC must switch tasks every time it expires. It will switch tasks if the CPU scheduler determines it is appropriate to do so. It's better to think of it in terms of telling BOINC how large a time slice it has to work with when scheduling the CPU than dictating to it when it will switch tasks.

2.) Depending on what your Connect to Network setting is, what your resource share is, and whether and for how long you let BOINC run on it's own during outage here (ie didn't manually update), you most likely have some debt built up for EAH and BOINC is giving it some extra time right now to get caught up.

FWIW, I have two remote hosts which were basically cut off from EAH for about a week due to the "Comm Deferral Defect" in the current release version and essentially ran SAH solid for half of that period. Currently they are running EAH mostly to pay back that lost time in terms of resource share.

BOINC works on a debt system,

BOINC works on a debt system, when you are running one project, and not another, it's because a debt has been created that needs to be repaid. Time isn't the only factor, it's computation rate, also. Just a quick check, SETI calculates at a faster rate than Einstein, so Einstein needs to catch up. So you will not always get the split of time that you think you will.
