Don't forget tomorrow is Stardust Day! :-)
Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

Stardust!

http://www.planetary.org/programs/projects/innovative_technologies/stardustathome/

Update from project director Andrew Westphal, May 11, 2005:
"the scans have been going extremely slowly and I have just now figured out why. The puzzle was that they would start going quickly but then slow down gradually until their were going like molasses. We're doing an overnight test now to verify that the fix worked. It was a hardware control issue on the microscope stage. It seems to have affected many of the focus movies, so we'll have to rescan those. I'm going to guess at this point that we're going to slip about two weeks."

Oh, bummer!
Thanks for the info, Stardust is yet another exciting twist on the distributed computing landscape. :-)
Cheers, Mike.

The Stardust website is now

The Stardust website is now open. Follow Mike's Stardust link below to it. There will be a delay in actual work but the site is operational and those that have not been involved in the beta test can now do some training so they are ready for when work arrives.

The site has been open for months but still seems less than fully functional. I see no link for training. The participation link results in a 404 - file not found.

I had this problem, too. Then I enabled Java Script... and saw a completely different site.
Now everything works.

That was weird. The old black background version of the site loaded every time I went there. I had to empty Firefox's cache and refresh the page before it would display the new version of the site.
