Project not showing up anymore on new computer

Topic 227730

I have been using BOINC since SETI in 1999. I've never had an issue until now. My old computer died, and I got a new one. I downloaded BOINC, got it installed fine, and I added the BAM! account manager using my old username and password.

For whatever reason, none of the 3 projects I was participating in got added back to my BOINC app. So I manually added the 3 projects back, selecting existing user and I entered my username and password. This seemed to work fine - tasks downloaded and computing began. I can even see tasks have completed and been validated and credit has been awarded to me.

Here's the problem:

When I look under BAM!:My Projects, I see all three projects listed - Einstein, Milky Way, and Rosetta. Great! When I click the icon under Stats for Einstein, it takes me to a page that says "User ID doesn't exist in Einstein@Home or doesn't have any credit." UH Oh!

When I click the Einstein project to go to that specific dashboard, I see my now-dead computer and my new one listed and credit is showing under both (~3.1M for my old computer, and ~40k for my new one.) And when I click the new computer from that page, I can pull up a list of tasks and I see that I have completed and validated tasks, and it says credit was given.

When I pull up my new computer on the Einstein dashboard, there are 2 icons under Cross Project Credit. When I click those, BoincStats says "Host ID doesn't exist in BOINC combined or doesn't have any credit." and Free-DC gives me stats for Milky Way and Rosetta but not Einstein.

Also, when I pull up the dashboard for the other 2 projects, down at the bottom is a list of all projects that I'm in, and Einstein doesn't show up there either.

I have set Einstein to no new tasks until I can get this figured out. I want to ensure that I'm getting credit for the work being done, and I'm just very confused why I'm seeing credits on one page, but not even showing the project on others - and being told that my User/Host/CPID aren't found on yet others. I posted this issue on the BAM! forum but unfortunately no one has responded.

*Also one more note. While trying to get this all resolved on my own, yesterday I clicked to Renew CPID in BAM!, hoping that would straighten out the issue. Now when I try to go to BAM!:My Projects, it says "User ID doesn't exist in BOINC combined or doesn't have any credit." I'm assuming this is just because of the renew CPID? I don't know how long that is supposed to take to propagate through the system, but it's been close to 24 hours and BAM! is showing an empty field for my CPID right now.

I hope someone can help me figure out what is going on and let me know what to do to correct this. Sorry for the long post, but thanks for any help you can offer.

How much time has elapsed

How much time has elapsed since you first started up BOINC with your new computer?

It is possible that the only thing needed is a day or two, maybe three, to let BOINC's servers work out all the details.

Just a thought...

I got the new computer 3 days

I got the new computer 3 days ago and set up BOINC right away. I manually added the projects under my existing username probably over 24 hours ago. I can give it some more time and hope it works itself out, I guess. Lol that's just very hard for an instant-gratification kind of guy.

I've been an

I've been an instant-gratification kind of guy myself, but I needed to adjust to the server's 'speed'.  The servers used by BOINC, and particularly Einstein, are many and they are located at different locations.  When they 'talk' to one another, you never know whether the server updates itself once per day, once per hour, or randomly when an operator manually hits the update button.  And since the updates for each computer isn't synchronized, you'll just have to wait it out.

In case you were curious, I

In case you were curious, I finally figured out what was causing the issue. Somehow the privacy setting for Einstein got switched to not share, which is why I couldn't see the stats on any of the other pages I was looking at.

Now that it's been switched back to YES as of yesterday, I can already see the project listed on Free-DC. BOINCstats still doesn't show it but I suppose that will come in due time. (It could also be delayed because I clicked the Renew CPID button on BAM! 3 days ago, and that little gem still hasn't sorted itself out.)

I see that you think I'm

I see that you think I'm curious...  In case you didn't know, I am also known as Curious George (and I do like bananas).  ;^)

I'm glad that you've got it back up on at least Free-DC.  It may show up on BOINCstats, and I hope it does, but I think you may need some more intervention since you clicked the CPID button.  By doing so, if BOINCstats does come back to be active again, it likely will be starting all over...  but I'm not really sure.

Since I have never done so, I'll let someone else do some explaining for that.
