    I had a few problems ( non-boinc related ) that I solved by rebuilding the system (software install that went horribly wrong). When I rebuilt I installed Debian Lenny (testing) AMD64 with BOINC from the Debian repos* and since then I have been unable to successfully do E@H work. This system is attached to 4 projects:
    ABC@H
    BURP
    PrimeGrid
    E@H

    PrimeGrid and ABC@H have been running just fine with typical results. E@H and BURP have failed everytime. When I was going through the list of 'client errors' I noticed that I keep getting "process got signal 11". I have tried various solutions that I found on Google, but nothing seems to work and I can't find any details on that exact error.

    I found one site that suggested installing schedtool and another that said not to, so I tried both but no difference. The system is a P4 and at first I had Hyperthreading on with an SMP kernel but I found a forum that said that could lead to problems so right now hyperthreading is disabled and it seems to have made no significant difference.

    I am not sure what to do next so if anyone has a comment/suggestion about it, I am willing to try it.

      Hi,

      Signal 11 is SIGSEGV (segmentation violation). Overclocked? Overheated? Faulty RAM perhaps.

      Another thing I noticed: stderr of your E@H results show:

        It isn't overclocked and it isn't running any hotter then normal. I can run memtest on it later tonight.

        I have that library here: /lib/libgcc_s.so.1
        Where would it be looking for it?

        The I did the first so I will see what happens next time my computer is schedualed to run a job.

        I don't quite understand why I need 32bit libraries when I have a complete 64bit system so I am not going to install them until I see if the first one worked.

          Einstein doesn't have 64bit applications to give out, only 32bit applications.
          These do work on 64bit OSes and 64bit BOINC, but for some OSes you need to download and install the additional 32bit libraries for everything to work correctly.

            That would explain it then. I thought there was 64bit work. I installed the 32bit libraries and I will report back on if it works or not.

              Instead of erroring out straight-a-way, the system is crunching the work unit so that is a plus. I will watch it to make sure it finishes OK but installing the ia32-lib package seems to have done the trick!

                You're welcome. At least it taught me something new, which is that it isn't always exit code 22 that's used with the missing ia32 library files. I'll adapt the BOINC FAQs accordingly, so thank you as well.
