Topic 188806

I have noticed that when I upload and then update, I am too often not getting any credit. Could it be that someone else has a faster machine and "beats me to it?" If so........why am I wasting my computer time when I can devote that time to SETI or ClimatePrediction?

I looked at your computer, why do you ask work for one week? Change in

Connect to network about every
to a lower setting.
e.g. Once every day.

Your computer is fast enough, but you got that much work at once, your actual results are the always last one comming in, -> no credit.

All results that has not been given credit has been returned past the deadline.
That's the reason that no credit is given to you.

Validate state: Result was reported too late to validate

I also noticed that you have 18 WU in cache at the moment and it takes about 12 hours for your computer to finish a result, that means it will take about 9 days to finish all these results and the deadline is 7 days for any given result.

To solve this problem you need to lower you cache by setting the connect to network value to something smaller. This setting is found under general preferences in your account. I use 0.1 days but it should be fine to use up to 2 days. Be ware though, if you participate in other projects you should keep that value under 1 day. That's because Boinc will download this amount of work from every project.
Start out small and then raise the value to what you want it to be but you should not go over 3 or 4.

I returned results 6days before deadline, and still not getting credit, my friend also has the same problem... something is wrong...

The only things I see are returned and granted credit, pending credit and not yet returned WUs. Where's the problem?

I think that Bob has a

I think that Bob has a problem; look at his individual results and validation state; most of the work is reported beyond the deadline;
some got credited however just because the whole validation proces takes quite a lot time and if you are just with the validation date you get your points assigned although reported too late.

Holmis is right about your amount of WU's, you should set the network connect time shorter to avoid this.

PS.
Working time for this PC is about 9 hrs per WU.

Thank you, everyone, for your help! I have reset my connect time to 2 days. I'll see how this does for awhile.

Instead of setting it for 2

Instead of setting it for 2 days, i decided to do it for 1 day. Since my machine was also still working on units that were already past their due dates, I reset it and started over. It downloaded 5 units that take 12 hours to process each and are due in a week. I give Einstein 57% of my process time, SETI gets 14% and ClimatePrediction gets 28.5%. I'll see how this does for me.
Thanks to everyone for pointing out my problem. I hadn't even realized my units were past their due dates.

Peace,
Bob in Indiana
