Hi,

I recently change my system and the Boinc client (5.10.7 then 5.10.13).

It is said that these clients are able to distribute tasks whether the project has 32 or 64bits softwares.

One Einstein@home wu was received and started with client 5.10.7, crunched a bit, then chrunched and finished by client 5.10.13. It seems that it is not able to report task because: "Message from server: platform 'windows_x86_64' not found"

If think even if your servers have no 64bits software to dispatch, X86_64 clients are able to handle both 64 and 32bits.

Is this an error, or should I go back to previous client and, thus, limit the possibilities of receiving x86_64 processes where available?

Regards,
RvP

Hi, I read other posts and

Message 69582 in response to message 69581

Hi,

I read other posts and links suggested. Actually, my matter is not especially to not receive more WU (at least yes but not yet!), and it's ok to wait that your backend servers will be upgraded.

My problem is to be able to send you the result of the crunched WU before the deadline...

How to do that?
Thanx any ping back.
Regards.

We just discussed this over

We just discussed this over at CPDN.

Here's what others came up with...

1) Change back to a 32 bit version of BOINC.
NOTE that the newer version MUST be Uninstalled first.
You must install a 5.10.x version, anything lower will automatically reset all projects due to the platform change. Even with a 5.10.x version there is a significant chance that all projects will reset. You can find the newest 5.10.x version (still in test state unfortunately) at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

2) In the Projects tab, set cpdn for No new tasks. Then, in the Tasks tab, Suspend the model. Then wait until the project upgrades the server software.

3) Keep crunching. Some of the data may get uploaded, and the rest will accumulate in the folder for the cpdn project. This will all be uploaded in one big rush when the server software is upgraded.

4) Stop crunching climate models.

2 and 3 really don't apply to E@H. So that leaves you with 1 or 4.

Wish I had better news for you.

You need v5.10.6 or later to not run into problems with discarding wrong platforms.

Due to other bugs, wouldn't try anything below v5.10.13...
