My client has downloaded 52 tasks. I have never had more than 4 in the tasks window before now. All the additional ones are h1_1095.80_S5R4_xxxx_S5R6a_1; where xxxx area all the values between 1588 and 1637 inclusive.

I will never get that lot done in the allotted time. Can they be cancelled or is their a problem with my account at your end?

Your host is a Core2Duo and should calculate all units within the given timeframe.

No it won't, unless I leave the PC on all day every day. Previously (i.e. the last 3 years I have been running this program) I have only had two tasks at a time. It was only the start of the week that it decided I should have 52. Anybody else had this problem?

Looks like the problem, I and

Looks like the problem, I and Randy described in this Thread.

I don´t know, if it is a problem with the BOINCManager or on the serverside. The best you can do is, to stop BOINC request new task until your cache is getting smaller and/or there is the new GPUwork is aviable enough for all.

Also have a look on Bikemans post about aborting WUs.

Then you should lower the values for "Maintain enough work for an additional" and "Computer is connected to the Internet about every" in your boinc-preferences.
I don't know if ABP2-Cuda is using an app_info.xml or not. In depending of your boinc-version you need an entry in the app_info.xml for the flops-value of your GPU too. If not, your boinc-cc would confused about the power of your CPU and ask for to much work.

PS: Detaching a host without cancelling the units and reporting back is really uncool.

Actually, as long as you don't reset but detach and re-attach the effect is the same as aborting all tasks and reporting them.

Hmm. I see a message "Client detached" in the unit list from H&H and for the unit 65479963 the "Client state" is "new". For a cancelled unit you get a "Client state" message with "Done". If it would be like you said, shouldn't the "Client state" be "done" too or is this depended on the boinc server version?
I'am confused...

Don't be ;-)

I think that the setting of the two columns isn't always consistent. I'm guessing here, but the value "Client detached" isn't mentioned under either "explain" link.

The important fact is that a new copy was sent out, regardless of the "Client state" field setting.

Luckily I only got 5 WU when I decided to compute WU for BOINC projects again ... but I asume this is still more than I can handle before timeout ... whats the best I can do to make the project as few problems as possible ?

If you think, BOINC does nonsense, at least stop it to fetch more work.
Then you have about two weeks to finish 5 jobs, this is not very much work,
even for a slow computer.
If you wait about two to three days before deadline and you still have too
much jobs, you have to reconsider, what to do ;o) In doubt, after the deadline
you don't need to start a job anymore, maybe it has already been send to
others. If it is almost finished, finish it as soon as possible an report it
to the server.
Of course, if you are sure, you will not do a specific job, you can abort it.
I think, it is not a real problem, if you do not care much about 5 jobs, this is
not an amount to worry about ;o)

If you think, your problem is related to the work buffer, maybe reduce it to
zero before you allow BOINC to fetch new work - and check immediately if it
continues to fetch too much work and stop it again, before you get too much.
If you have a GPU, this is maybe only a temporary problem, until they send out
enough GPU-tasks again.

Sorry, your hosts are hidden. We don't know your boinc version or cpu, but you have nothing calculated in your other attached projects. Your credits are low and your RAC is zero. Normally the boinc client needs no babysitting, but some versions have bugs with the unit management and ask for to much work.
