Hi there,

I've not been able to complete an Einstein WU for at least a month now. Most of them abort with the famous -1073741819 error code. I do not use the screen saver nor look at the graphics.

Here are the URLS to a few of the later ones:
86786776
86784578
86778143

If I read the debugger output correctly, the error happens in the worker thread, but not exclusively in houghmap.c.

I tried resetting the project (and have already deleted the einstein project directory), but to no avail.

Can I do anything else about it?

Kind regards,

Peter

It's also possible it's due to other hardware, not necessarily the graphics card.
Have you checked your memory any time lately? Try a run with memtest86+. Or try an update of DirectX 9.0c (August 2007 update). (may sound weird, but it not only includes updates for 3D modules)

Hi Jord, thank you for

Hi Jord,

thank you for your suggestions.

I updated DirectX, I ran two complete memtest passes, I ran chkdsk on the hard disk, all without events, but I still get errors -1073741819 or 99, like in 86882230 or
86871027. All errors somehow seem to be related to the "hough" complex, whatever that is.

I suspended Einstein@home for the time being. Other projects work fine, but I'll be back when either you or I find a solution to those issues.

Kind regards,

Peter

Hi! I've brought this to

Hi!

I've brought this to the attention of the programmers, it might be an indication of a bug. The "Hough" stuff, btw., is pattern recognition code that E@H uses to identify "interesting" areas in the parameter space that the client searches.
